Victoria Schule

ul. Kładki 24, Gdańsk     more than a year ago
In the years leading up to the war the Nazis had gathered extensive lists of Poles seen as enemies of the Reich. This included everything from industrialists to patriots, from priests to customs officers. The moment the war broke out it was people like this who were arrested, before being brought to the Victoria Schule for Young Ladies. The school had been specially adapted in the lead up to the conflict to serve as both a processing and interview centre, and many of those arrested would later be killed in Stutthof the following year. A plaque outside remembers their fate.
