Sun, sea, ancient ruins and a hospitable people sums up the tourist product Greece had been selling for decades. Couldn’t go wrong with that, until travellers discovered more exotic destinations and became more demanding. And things embarked on a downward spiral for the country’s biggest industry.
The Olympic Games and the publicity the event generated marked a turning point in the country’s tourism. Greece is now attempting to reestablish itself as a modern destination and is eager to show that it has a lot more to offer than the world has learned to expect.
The sea is as crystal clear as it has always been, the Mediterranean sunshine is still here and the ancient treasures are safely standing. But this country goes well beyond the stereotypes. Let us show you, starting with our first Greek guide: Athens In Your Pocket.
