Bars, Clubs and Discos in Sofia

Nightlife in Sofia is split into three main areas: the middle-aged live bands, usually wearing denim, who play something akin to blues to wide-ranging audience; DJs, often international, playing house and techno to über-trendy young people in designer clothing; the enormous, expensively designed nightclubs for excess partying to the sounds of Pop Folk, a local blend of Balkan folk style with in-your-face sexuality.  The latter can seem rather scary, but it will provide you with the most unique experience of the lot.

Sofia's nightclubs carry on throughout the night, finishing in time for you to go and get breakfast, so if this is what makes you tick you won't run out of things to do in Sofia.
