Street Dogs
Stray dogs have plagued the country for the past 20 years and it seems as though the country is no closer to finding a long term solution.
On the one hand, animal welfare organisations support a long-term humane solution, on the other, packs of stray dogs make life in the city unbearable with their noise, dirt and diseases.
Many Sofianites are against any programme of
mass extermination; they befriend and feed the dogs but will not accept responsibility for them. They consider sterilisation cruel, not to speak of euthanasia - and at the same time opt for throwing unwanted puppies or pets out on the street.
If you are scared of dogs, consider buying a 'Dog Dazer', a small device that emits a high pitched signal that makes most dogs run away.
