The international recession has left its mark everywhere and the Dutch are no exception. More than 50% of Dutch people have chosen to limit their supermarket budgets because of the credit crunch.
More than 60% choose cheaper deals, 33% have cut spending on ready-made meals or have chosen cheaper types of meat and almost 25% choose cheaper meat products.
Every year the Dutch magazine
Quote publishes a Top 500 list of the nation's richest people. Last year, for the first time, the Royal family agreed to make an appearance in the
Quote 's 500. Partially thanks to the credit crunch, the fortune of the family of Orange has shrunk to a paltry 800 million euros. This, however, is good enough to be number 25 on the list.
