Only the German police have a worse record in Europe regarding privacy. Holland's neighbour to the east listened in on 44,000 conversations - a large number if you consider that Belgium only applied this precautionary measure 3,600 times.
And even in the United States, the country that coined the phrase Big Brother, hardly 2,000 phone calls were listened in on live last year.
