Situated in spying distance of O’Leary’s lies the competition – the English-style Fox and Anchor. Step through a door styled like a vintage phone box to enter a vast Brit pub whose highlights include a lounge room fitted with leather armchairs, a terrace sitting in the shade of the Frederik Church and a side room that feels straight out of Jamaica Inn; all flagstone flooring, brass pots, pictures of naval vessels and even a painting of our lads in action at Waterloo. A few TVs relay any sport that might be on, and if that fails to entertain then you can always rely on the live music. They’re not averse to the odd potty touch either, and if you look above the bar area you’ll find a great big canoe thing hanging from the ceiling. As impressive as it looks, the biggest boon here is the booze, an encyclopaedic choice that includes Sam Adams, Guinness, Singha and Krusovice to name a few. If that leaves you bamboozled then just take a look at the blackboard for the staffs recommendation.
As an English visitor to Karlskrona, I visited the Fox and Anchor and couple of times and was delighted with this pub. The beer was excellent and reminded us of home. The karaoke night was fantastic although I didn't pluck enough courage up to have a go. well done10 out of 10
