Once a part of the fortification of the city towards the lake, these days the Bauschänzli peninsula makes itself useful as a beer garden. Get a big beer (ein Grosses) at the self-service counter and a bratwurst (veal sausage) with potato salad and enjoy the shade of the big old trees (where they are still standing) and the view over the river. There is a resident band that plays hit music (15:00 - 17:00, 19:00 - 22:30) for the mostly fifty-plus guests who hit the dance floor and an area with service, where not only the food but also the prices are more sophisticated. Brass bands for the morning pint on Sunday mornings.
(Self Service: 13 - 38Sfr, served area: 29 - 65Sfr)
