A large statue of a soldier with a raised fist overlooks Korça from the cemetery for soldiers who died in the Second World war. The two wing-shaped terraces hold dozens of tombs and a building with the names of soldiers on panels; many of them were only in their 20s. A crumbling grand staircase leads up to the cemetery from the top of Rruga Mbledhja e Beratit, or you can take a taxi here.
