Award-winning chef Michael Deane's downtown portfolio extends to the Queen's Quarter with this cool, contemporary bar and grill. The laidback space is all dark woods and minimalist lines, and the walls feature original pieces by local artist Oliver Jeffers. Business people, tourists and sophisticated students (yes, there are some) dine on Deane's celebrated array of distinctive dishes and locally sourced ingredients. Find it in the Queen's University Common Rooms opposite Methodist College.

Excellent food attentive service and an ever changing menu has us coming back time after time. The outside eating space in the summer is a joy with views of the Ulster Museum. The Chef recently won a national cooking competition that saw his creative re-imaginings of British favourites beat off challenges from Michelin rated chefs.

Dined at Deanes at Queens on Friday 29th February and we were all extremely disappointed. Two of our party ordered 'Sole on the Bone' We only could find approximately 2oz of sole which was cold. The rest was bone. When we complained we were told that it was whole sole! (where was the flesh, head etc). It was replaced by Fish and Chips which were greasy. My two colleagues who had the aforementioned were ill last night and today. The potatoes were raw .Was the mash Smash? We were charged VAT and Service Charge!!! We dine out every Friday and we will never be in Deanes again. We will dine at Ginger where the food is excellent and reasonably priced.
