For over 10 years now, the Vrbas and Tara rivers have been hosting water sport competitions, training and leisure activities for its local and international competitors from around the world.  The Kanjon Rafting Club has been the main organizer of events such as the European Championships 2005, Pre-World Championships 2008 and several EuroCup events.

But, the greatest realization is yet to come… This May in 2009, Bosnia’s rivers will be the proud host of the World Rafting Championships – an event unlike any other which will bring the best competitors and fans of the most fascinating river sport of all: Rafting.  30 teams from all four corners of the globe will compete against each other for the title of “World Rafting Champion”.From the 17th - 24th May, both the Tara and Vrbas rivers will be dominated by four races: the sprint, H2H, downriver and Slalom alongside days of training and a regatta which will be held on the last day.  The races will have to pass through several white water sections and pool drops over a total length of 31 kilometres, while crossing through two canyons:  Tijesno (5km) and Podmilacje (8km).

Local national televisions and EuroSport Channel 2 alongside many more international media representatives will be present to come and document the event on these seven fascinating days of adventure, competition, fun and entertainment.  The world will be watching!
