This is that rarity in Bucharest (and indeed Romania): an upmarket Romanian restaurant. The surroundings, location, exquisitely decorated dining rooms, service and choice of high quality food will convince you of that. This is one of very few places in Romania where you can enjoy an entire suckling pig (though note that you will need to phone ahead and ask them to start preparing it a day in advance) and sample some of the best vintage wines Romania has ever produced.

I am just wondering about all the positive comments, that were submitted in exactly one per month frequency from April to November 2012. Not that Jaristea is not worth visit, just this is ridiculous way to pretend to have positive testimonials here.

This is an amazing place! A hidden gem throughout Bucharest's restaurants! Great food, great show and mystical atmosphere! Great parties! A really good interwar Balkan reminiscence!

Absolutely the best traditional Romanian place in town. It's a must see for everybody who wants to taste the local flavor. Exquisite dishes and very nice show.

I have visited Bucharest last month and been recommended to eat at this place and I have to say it it was one of the best moments of my trip to this city.I never thought a restaurant could accommodate so much: a feeling that you're going back in time, a fascinating local LIVE show & some UNIQUE dishes and flavors for the Romanian cuisine! If I ever get back I will surely return to Locanta!!!

this is a very nice rstaurant indeed. i had the most exquisite "sarmale" with my wife and friends. the selection of wines was very good and the waiters very well trainer in selecting the most appropriate wine for our meal.

jaristea made my holiday. i went in bucharest for a weekend trip and one of them insisted we must go there to eat. we had a great time the food was absolutely delicious and we really enjoyed the show even though we didn't understand the lady's speech. it's one of those places you really have to experience when in boekarest.

Exceptional place I've been here yesterday after reading some reviews and I was VERY impressed. It feels like you go back in time about 100 years or so you enter a fine luxurious old house and then the show that comes with your food is simply amazing. As for the food I have never tried something more tasty in Romania. It's definitely one of the best spots in Bucharest and I recommend it!

We went to diner a few nights ago and it was absolutely delightful. It was the nicest restaurant we visited in Bucharest in our 3 day trip. It has a fascinating architecture and superb interior design the food is traditional Romanian and came in generous portions. The show adds to the charm of the restaurant which I'm sure I will visit soon enough.

We had a reservation and there were some 30 military officers from various NATO countries. There are few restaurants ANYWHERE in the world, and we have some experience in that area, that would serve such wonderful food, in such a magnificent atmosphere, with what could only be described as old world charm and excellence. To spend any time in Bucharest and NOT come to the Locanta-Jaristea is to not see the flavor of Romania.

I believe this is the only place in Bucharest where one can enjoy a dining experience, not just a meal and some decor. The venue is decorated like an old aristocrat's house, with antiques, a library, very old and exquisite silverware and artifacts, paintings on the walls: superb ambiance. Almost all guests are dressed for the occasion - like it was in the old times - and the staff is dressed like in the 30s. In the center there's a stage where miscellaneous musicians entertain the guests in 15-20 minutes parts. The music is really loud, so don't invite anyone there if you need to chat. The food is very good but a bit pricey, but watch out for the waiter's suggestion for a cold platter as a starter: you may regret it when the bill comes!

The place is nice, the service is good, and dishes are traditionally large. The three hour show is interesting and diverse, but there is hardly any break and music is loud. A very good place for an entertaining evening, but definitely not if you want to chat. The harmonica player is possibly the best I have listened to in the country, apart from Ionita de Clejani's band and a Ukrainean player in Sucevita.
