Fifteen years ago Bansko boasted one hotel and a scattering of rooms, offered privately by local grannies. Nowadays the number of tourist beds in town stands at an estimated 20,000 and is still rising. With a rash of hotels in every category, it shouldn't be too hard to find something that suits. However, large areas of Bansko still look like a building site, with cranes and piles of construction materials, lining the streets. Even some of the best hotel rooms come with grim views, so a certain degree of stoical forbearance is required.
