The first cinema in Slovenia to introduce arthouse programming (getting the jump on Kinodvor in Ljubljana by a year), these days Metropol serves as one of the hubs of Celje's arts scene. In addition to its varied programme of international films, the cinema also runs a lively café/bar and hosts frequent concerts in its oversized lobby - mostly featuring up-and-coming rock and alternative bands. And if that weren't enough, it also boasts one of the city's more memorable façades, which includes four giant orange heads supporting a first-floor balcony.
