Getting around

Petersburg residents get around the city using a variety of transport options. The fastest and most efficient are the metro and marshrutka (minibus). On above-ground transportation you can buy tickets from the conductor or driver (16Rbl for bus, tram, trolleybus). It works from around 06:00 to just after midnight. If you plan to catch the metro, it helps to learn your Cyrillic alphabet first. Taxis in St. Petersburg are relatively cheap, and it’s accepted practice in St. Russia to hail down random cars and negotiate even cheaper prices for rides across the city.
In our print guide you will find all options for travelling to and from St. Petersburg: international and domestic flight schedules (including Moscow flights), international and domestic train schedules, international and domestic bus schedules.
