Senj Surroundings

The route south from Senj is one of the most scenic stretches of coast in the Adriatic, with the main coastal road or magistrala winding its way over the rocky lower limbs of the Velebit mountains. The road clings to the coast for much of the way, offering stunning views of the offshore islands. Occasionally the magistrala is forced inland by the sheer ruggedness of the terrain, although minor roads descend to the small fishing villages and secretive pebbly coves that make this stretch of coast so special.
