The French left a great impact along this tree avenue that was built in the Classicist style. This lush, green, plane-tree plantation was built in 1809 whilst under French rule and overseen by Napoleon’s marshal Frederic Louis Viesse de Marmont in Karlovac. The avenue originally had 112 trees planted whereas today it has 96. Marmont’s Avenue has been a protected horticultural monument since 1968 and is under special protection as a monument of park architecture.
