Housed in an eighteenth-century mansion built for the town magistrate, the museum has a collection covering the period from prehistory to the present day, making this one of the most important museums in the country. Roman-era tombstones fill the ground-floor hallway. Several rooms of clocks, muskets and other oddities await inspection upstairs.
