The train station is just outside of the city centre, heading west along the coast road. Bus numbers 1, 1A, 2, 6, 7, 7A or 32 get you there from the centre. Trains connect Rijeka with Budapest (via Zagreb), Ljubljana and Ilirska Bistrica in Slovenia (via Opatija-Matulji) and Osijek in east Croatia. The new HŽ (Croatian Railways) website has good English and German pages featuring ticket prices and connections for domestic and international routes.
