Le Mandrać

Something rather special – a contemporary space with beautiful deck seating on the waterfront, offering “traditional” and “avant garde” menus which may be taken as “slow food” – multiple courses to be savoured among friends.

We walked along the beautiful seafront path from Opatija to Volosko village. The first restaurant we came upon was Le Mandrac and were drawn to their terrace by the sea.Agree with previous comments, this really is a quality dining experience. Lots of small plates bursting with flavour with many wines to choose from the cellar.

How refreshing it was to discover this little gem.We were staying at the Astoria, and the lady on the reception advised us to eat at Le Mandrac, saying that food wise, they did things differently there. We slowly sampled six dishes from a tasting menu, plus a few recommended glasses of wine to match. The cooking style is modern, and refreshingly so. One of the better places we have dined at in recent times.

We stayed in Volosko and had dinner twice at Restaurant Le Mandrac. The cooking is exceptional, with the emphasis on fresh seasonal local ingredients. Primarily seafood, we went with the tasting menu, which gave us the opportunity to try everything. In a word, sublime.
