Samoborska kremšnita

The cream pie making tradition was 'born here' (as we were told) in the 19th century. At the time it was a delicacy only the rich could afford, thus the middle and lower classes had the lifelong dream that one day it would be them stuffing there faces with coffee and whipped custard. Surprisingly low in its sugar content, it's very light and fluffy and is rumoured to be especially gentle on the digestive tract. Belive you-me, these babies are not touched by any modern machinery either - just grinning ladies who have been perfecting the art for eons. The
following facts will confuse you as they did us: the pie is not meant to be transported any great distance, but is flown to London and other such places all the time. It is so much a part of the town and is an essential gift at nearly any meeting of friends. It can be served hot or cold.
