Art is meant to be freedom of expression. But what happens when we give it limits? When we add rules? Artists from FRAC have decided to take a plunge, to steer away from mainstream art and detach themselves from the rules. See how the French performance artist Orlan uses her own body and the procedures of plastic surgery to make ‘carnal art’, or Swiss artist Erwin Wurm who depicts the playing of one’s own body in photography. Then the French experimental dance group 'Les Gens d'Uterpan' provokes with their exchange of human liquids by using their saliva dressed only in underwear. All in all, these are artworks which put the expectations of the audience and art critics to the test. Does it pay off? See for yourselves.
