Have you ever looked into those corners of Zagreb, the ones nobody notices because they’re kind of ugly, but marvelled in a special way at those old disused spaces dripping with atmosphere? Zagreb has a fine roster of disused industrial buildings that are, apart from being quite splendid, a history lesson in themselves. However, many of them are being lost to the ravages of time and the property developers. This exhibition aims to acquaint its audience with Zagreb’s industrial heritage from the golden days of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, to discuss the importance of these buildings from the perspective of architecture, history, sociology and more, and perhaps most important, to finally find a way to save these grand old buildings for future generations. The important thing is to learn to love them. If the Tate Modern can be an artistic playground, so can Nada Dimić!
