Readers' letters

I have been recently in Zagreb, and I must say I was very well impressed with everything I saw, in spite of the short time I had available. I used a copy of your publication entitled "Zagreb - Essential City Guides" and it was very helpful in getting me acquainted with the city.
- H. A. F., Brazil, 02.07.2002.

Where do I find information on concerts of pop, rock music in Zagreb? You're doing a fantastic job with the booklets. I like them - small, convenient, easy to handle, informative, humorous and colorful (which makes flipping to sections a breeze). I look forward to obtaining one each time I arrive in Zagreb.
- J. H., Internet, 22.11.2002.

We received your guides last week, and I would like to thank you very much for them. Our foreign trainees were very happy with them, since they were of great help in enabling them to find their way around Zagreb - their new living and working environment. Since IAESTE is the student body with the greatest number of international exchange students in Croatia, and considering the enormous amount of effort we put into accommodating our foreign students, your help means a great deal to us.
- B.G., President IAESTE Croatia, 16.06.2004.

I have clients searching for information on European (from Greece to Scandinavia) vacations, accommodations and transportation. I'd like to direct all of the searches for these tourism services to a single relevant website. If you can take on more inquiries from travelers to destinations in your area of expertise, then I'd like to discuss working with you exclusively.
- J. W., USA, 20.04.2003

Thank you for taking my call the other day. Further to our conversation, we'd be grateful if you could send us some information or contact details that would help us find out how to go about opening a new business in Zagreb.
- J.K., Internet, 05.11.2004.

Please could you send us some more of your English-language guides, as we have already distributed all the ones you gave to us. Your publication has proven to be of great help to us in our everyday operations. Many foreign tourists, especially young ones, come into our agency for all kinds of information, and we always give them your guide since it has a city map and all the information foreign visitors to Zagreb need. I would like to mention that our fellow citizens of Zagreb are also always glad to pick up a copy, because in quality and content it surpasses similar publications available in Croatian language.
- I. M., Atlas Zagreb, 20.08.2003.

I am new to Croatia - just moved here from Canada - and would like some information on gyms and fitness centres in Split. Could you please send me any info that you may have. Thank you, it is very much appreciated!
- S., Internet, 18.10.2002.

Hi there! I'm a big fan of In Your Pocket guides and have found them to be the best source of travel information across Central Europe. I have to organise a stag night / bachelor party in Zagreb at short notice and, never having been there before, I just wondered if you could give me any pointers where a group of guys drinking way too much will not spoil everyone else's evening? Also, inevitably, I will be required to find a strip club at some point in the evening. Do such things exist in Zagreb, and if so, can you suggest somewhere that will not be sending us to cash machines in the company of large mafiosi?
- E. R., Internet, 26.06.2002.

Your Ambassador to the U.S. is coming to California with our Congressman and I am going to the reception. To be somewhat informed (!) I looked up Croatia on the web. I found that Zinfandel was born in your country. So I looked up "Croatian Wines" and got a link to your website. It is both so funny and informative that I had to write to you. The writer obviously has a great sense of humor! I will pass on this site to others at the reception tonight, so that they may be equally entertained and informed!
- L. P., USA, 12.10.2004.

For some time now, we used the In Your Pocket guides for our travels through Europe, and really, what a great source of information! And not only that: a great laugh as well, as the writers often show a great sense of humour! Now, we are planning to travel to Croatia this summer, and cannot imagine doing that without your great guides! Could you please tell me how to order the in your pocket guides to Split and Dubrovnik?
- E. M., Belgium, 26.06.2002.

A couple of years back, we travelled through the Baltic and serendipitously came across the in your pocket guides. What can I say, they are magnificent, and we soon discarded our other guides. We are planning another trip through some more countries later this year (including Croatia) and want to get our hands on the IYP guides for the areas. Is there any way you could mail the guides to me? I'd be eternally grateful as it would help tremendously with planning the trip.
- G. H., Internet, 27.01.2004.

Judging from your publication, you still enjoy doing the city's best guide and the readers can feel it :-)
- T. G., Zagreb, 08.06.2004.

The international division of the Association of Independent Trade Unions of Croatia organises and takes active part in numerous activities which include international visitors. We very often use promotional material for tourists which we are able to get hold of us at the Tourist Boards for the city of Zagreb and Croatia. They directed us to your outstandingly fresh and commendably valuable publication. That's why we wanted to ask you if it would be possible to order your guides for use by us.
- M. H., International Division of the Association of Independent Trade Unions of Croatia, 28.10.2003.

I work as Program Director for one of the most influential travel companies in the USA. We have started a new European tour for American tourists named "Eastern Europe to the Black Sea". Our passengers start in Prague, and travel through some European capitals and major cities, including places in Hungary, Croatia, Serbia, Bulgaria and Romania - mainly on the Danube. As it is a new tour we Program Directors are trying to collect as much information about all the cities as possible, therefore I would like to ask for your help.
- E. B., Hungary, 04.03.2004.

Hey, how are you? Hope to be doing cool. I'm writing to you, because I would like to tell me the best places by night where foreign people are. You know, where English is the best tool to communicate. Thank you very much in advance, and also would like to add that you're doing a great thing with your pocket edition. It helps very much. OK mates, I'm looking forward to receiving news from you.
- T. L., Spain, 29.12.2002.

We are coming to Croatia early May and we would like to play golf on some of your courses. We have been playing golf in every European country except Croatia. Could you please help us in finding some course to play in May?
- E. M., Finland, 25.03.2003.

I am familiar with your "Zagreb In Your Pocket" edition and I find it very useful and objective. I work in a Croatian production company and advertising agency and in regard to that travel a lot. My foreign colleagues always found your edition more than useful as I found it when travelling abroad.
- Zagreb, 20.08.2002.

I'm going to spend the next few months in Zagreb. Therefore I would like to buy / order one of your In Your Pocket guides / books of Zagreb or Croatia.
- A. R., Internet, 05.09.2002.

I happened to see a copy of your "In Your Pocket" guide to Zagreb, and I have to say that I was exceptionally impressed by how comprehensive it is, and also by its humour, which is really unusual, since travel guides are usually rather dry. I am a member of the European Circle of Croatia, an organisation which promotes cooperation between young people in Croatia and Europe. This year, we are exceptionally honoured to be organising a Student Academy for around sixty participants representing almost all the countries of Europe. I would be delighted to be able to present my city and my country in the best way possible. Because of that, I would ask you if it is at all possible to secure 60 copies of IYP October / November issue as soon as possible.
- V. S., International Summer Academy 4, Zagreb, 27.09.2003.

The Zagreb guide was of great use to me on my trip - obviously this came as no surprise to me as I have previously used the Riga and Tallinn guides. Having just visited Bratislava & Belgrade, my feeling is that you need toface resume coverage of these places. They have a lot going for them (much cheapersize than the likes of Prague etc) and are experiencing a rapid rise in the number of tourists.
- M. R., Citigroup, London, 28.10.2004.

Do you have a printed copy of the IYP guide for Belgrade? I'm flying there in a few weeks and would like to know if a guide is available or planned.
- J. L., Embassy of Switzerland, 16.09.2004.

I am flying into Zagreb in April and as well as visiting other places in Croatia I would also like to visit Banja Luka in Bosnia. I am having trouble finding transportation to this city. Could you please help me with a link or web address that have bus and train timetables going outside of Croatia.
- B. H., Internet, 29.01.2004.

Can you send us information concerning the flea market in Zagreb? We are interested in antiques in the flea market.
- L. D., Canada, 01.07.2002.

I am writing to ask if it would be possible to have 300 extra guides delivered to the Sheraton Hotel for CEESA Conference CEESA (Central and Eastern European Schools Association) will be holding its annual professional development conference in Zagreb March 2005. Approximately 300 participants worldwide are expected to attend. We would be delighted if we could include a copy of the March issue of Zagreb inyourpocket in the participants' conference bags to inform them of what is going on about town during their visit to Zagreb.Thank you very much for your consideration and I look forward to hearing from you.
-A.F., American International School of Zagreb, 26.10.2004.
