Autumn in Tallinn
As I sit here on my laptop writing this foreword, using candles as my only light source, I have just a couple of hopes... that the battery will last, and or that the power comes back on. Tallinn is a great place to visit any time of year, but snowy winter days are simply magic in this medieval town. Cobblestones covered in snow, mulled wine at a traditional Christmas Market hut, snow-capped roofs and fires crackling in the hearth are just some of the things that bring warmth to an otherwise cold time of year. And speaking of the Christmas Market, it’s here that you’ll find all of those unique gift ideas for the hard to please on your list. From smoked cheeses to hand-knit mittens and blacksmith forged swords to ceramic mugs, there are enough items here to guarantee you’ll exceed the baggage-weight limits of any airline.
And just because it’s a tad chilly, doesn’t mean there’s a lack of things to do. Our culture section is still chalk full of big and small events to help keep you warm.
So, what are you waiting for? Put on your hat, grab a mulled wine, stick a memory card in your camera, turn the page and get started. Tallinn is, after all, one big photo opportunity.
The staff at Tallinn In Your Pocket would like to wish everyone a safe holiday and a Happy New Year!
