A must-see for visitors of all ages, this large, new gallery presents the life and works of Ilon Wikland, most famous for illustrating children's books by Swedish author Astrid Lindgren. Before emigrating to Sweden in 1944, Wikland spend part of her childhood in Haapsalu, and recently donated the bulk of her collection to the museum. About 50 paintings and sculptures are on display, mounted low for easy viewing by smaller aficionados. Storytelling and videos add to the experience.
