La Boca

La Boca
This attempt to bring a bit of Argentine flare to Pärnu certainly offers one of the most decorative and festive interiors in Old Town, though our readers have reported geologically slow service in summer. Indeed we eventually had to hunt down a waitress to order. The menu specialises in meat dishes, which we hope are better than the pasta we had.

Neither do I usually bother to write reviews but i just want to warn other tourists you'll spend much more time in this restaurant than you'd expect. So don't come there hungry or short of time! I was there 7 January 12 and it was almost empty BUT we waited for 50 min for our soup and another 15 min for our meat. The food was fine actually but what the hell? Moreover I saw the waitress warn Estonian visitors that waiting time is long and several couples left. But they don't warn tourists! There were several of foreigners in the restaurant - all desperate and short of time. What a strange politics for a major restaurant in a small city! And please mind it's SO untypical for Estonia! In every other place the food is great and cheap and fast!

We had a bit different experience that everybody else here. It was fairly busy evening but our service was fast and friendly. Food was ok. Not great but I've had much worse.

Visit to this establishment (I wouldn't call it a restaurant even if my life depended on it) almost ruined a very nice day for our family. Fortunately we were in a good mood. Now to the details - we ordered a grilled salmon with grilled vegetables a beef steak with French fries and chicken casserole with cheese a glass of still water with ice and lemon a glass of sparkling water with lemon and a glass of sparkling water. In a few minutes we got our waters - 3 sparkling with lemon - ah well we're not too picky. Then The Waiting started – in fact it took them more than hour (!) to serve our food in the meantime no one even came and asked whether we want more water or perhaps some bread. Now about the food itself - there was indeed a small piece of salmon which according to my wife was quite OK the vegetables were almost exclusively carrots with an exception of a tomato (which was fresh) and a fried cucumber. The steak - well I guess I need to start with the smell of charred flesh that was accompanying this culinary marvel. It was a quite large albeit very thin slice of burnt and totally parched piece of what once might have been beef. Fries – very small bits actually lukewarm and completely dry of course. This weird ensemble was accompanied by a fat slice of orange.Casserole was surprisingly quite OK – bits of chicken covered with bits of molten cheese perhaps slightly overcooked rice and copious amounts of brown beans that were not mentioned in menu. My daughter ate the few chicken bits and the cheese I finished off the rice with the beans which was the only meal for me since I brought the plate and threw it onto the counter and said I won’t eat it and neither pay.All together the cost for this extraordinary feast was a bit over 20 euros not including the tips which of course were not given.Overall – service and food combined – it was the worst culinary experience I have had in last 20 or so years.

I don't usually write to these pages, but La Boca in Parnu was a real rip-off! The service and the quality of food was REALLY bad. They even charged us for tap water! It is in a very central location and has a great outdoor terrace, therefore very busy and they take advantage of these facts and hire lousy waiters who serve terrible (and overpriced!) food.

Bad, worse, La Boca. I have never eat food like this in a restaurant. Meat was really bad. Coca cola was ok.

We felt the food to be reasonable but got better value in Parnu. They were ovewhelmed with crowds and theough the terrace was pleasant, the service ws harried. The wine was plonked down ans after we finished a main course, the waitress assumed we were ready to go and presented the bill abruptly.

Food was quite ok but service was really bad. I have never been that confused than while our black-haired weitress actually picked a fight with us.
