Trattoria Massimo

Trattoria Massimo
Fantastic interior, pretty good service and some interesting menu items give Massimo an overall good grade. They are however somewhat lacking when it comes value for money on certain dishes as well as quality control in the kitchen. Hopefully they'll iron out the kinks in order to bring themselves up to top-notch. Great daily offers and some excellent live music on weekends.

In a town with many poor overpriced restaurants this place sets the bar at a new low. I admit the decor is good and this is what tempted us to visit but beyond this the place is a disaster zone which deserves to go bankrupt asap ( which I am sure it will)The service was a joke with waitresses constantly coming to our table to offer other peoples dishes. By the time they ever reach the right customers they have a goos chance if being cold I am sure. For us one dish bought was totally wrong but we decided to eat it anyway as nobody came back to ask if the meal was ok. ThAt said both dishes were totally bland and awful. Almost anyone could cook something better. Very simple pastas where the sauce was incredibly basic tomato based a child who watched a basic tv show would probably make something more tasty. I've eaten all over the world at many great restaurants and I know the difference between al dente pasta and totally uncooked out of a cheap box spagetti and this was the latter. We told the waitress at the end and she couldn't have cared less.My only obligation is to spread the word to prevent anyone else wasting their time checking out this place that looks good from the outside but is worse than any dump you can imagine if you care about the quality of your food.

Visited the new much talked about restaurant Trattoria Massimo this weekend with foreign guests and after hearing much hype about it thought we were in for a good night. The experience was awful! Firstly the waitress didn't take us to our table but showed us on the stairs that our table is on the other side of the restaurant. Then when we sat down it took a while to bring us the menus - menus were a big A3 papers which were dirty and greasy because other people had got food or drink on it. Few of the menus were the old menus that were missing a few dishes. I had to look at my friends menu for that and when telling this to the waitress she just made a face - didn't bring a new one either.. We ordered drinks and considering they pride themselves on an excellent wine menu then the waitress didn't recommend not 1 wine but just stood there while we were trying to make a choice. So when she finally brought the ordered drinks to the table she just loaded the table with drinks - didn't ask to taste the wine and left. One of us ordered just a sparkling water and they brought it with a plastic bottle on the table and left it there - no ice no lemon no pouring of the water out. Firstly a restaurant that wants to be a bit more then your average pub and pushes more for the high end you do not bring a half a litre plastic bottled water on the table and just leave it there. THEN when pouring the wine the waitress takes the wine glass from the table and pours the wine into the glass. One should not pick up the glass from the table but pour it while the glass is on the table. Also there were no coolers to put the white wine in. While we were waiting for our food they brought us our cutlery. The cutlery was rolled in a small tissue like in a regular pub - no bread was offered either. When the food came it was really small and the taste was just awful. The selection of dishes was really small as well. There was only about 4 or 5 pastas on it and they all were very bland and with tomato sauce. What kind of italian restaurant has everything in a tomato sauce. The prices for this place were also not cheap. I would rather go to Bocca or Controvento or Karme Kuulik etc. where I pay the same or slightly more but the service food and wine is just amazing!Im just sad because this place would have a lot of potential as the interior is quite nice but to make a big promotion with local stars is a good way of getting people in. But if you are looking good quality food with good prices and nice service avoid this place. Totally not worth it - we left with a bad taste and went to a different restaurant to have another meal to feel full. (
