Olde Hansa

Many frequent travellers would say that you haven't really been to Tallinn unless you've visited Olde Hansa. This Mecca of mediaevalism in the heart of Old Town doesn't just serve historically authentic fare made from carefully-researched recipes, it provides guests with a whole experience using a combination of candlelight, waiters and waitresses in period costume and medieval background music. Chamber musicians round out the ambience every night of the week. Make sure to check out Olde Hansa's Waggehus located just around the corner at Vanaturu Kael 8.

Absolutely fantastic! We had both a main course and a dessert, which tasted delicious. We really recommend you trying the smoked filet mignon and the wild boar. The apple dessert with almond milk is the best dessert we´ve ever had! Not too pricey, great welcoming staff and an medieval atmosphere to die for.

Olde Hansa feels as if you're part of a play. The waiters and waitresses are skilled and pleasant actors and the atmosphere is just right. Been here more than a dozen times and it's always nice. Try the 'rose pudding' for desert if you like it sweet....

Fabulous place with good meats and great service. Make sure you try their new thing in menu- elk fillet. Just magical taste!

Hmm. Well, it's probably fair to describe the food as 'heavy', but I'm not sure that's altogether inauthentic. Not the sort of place I would ever usually choose for a meal, but completely surprised me - fantastic attention to detail in the front of house, and some serious cooking going on in the kitchen. The food is the heart of Hansa, not an extra to justify the tourist trap. If you're curious, don't hesitate.

The food here is simply terrible.....very, very heavy, everything enotmous, and the "vegetarian" dish has ham scattered throughout it.

My family and I were a large group the day we descended upon Olde Hansa. We were warmly greeting by a pretty and witty young lady who looked after us with a friendly and helpful style. The food and Medieval music were wonderful. Everything about this place is magical and authentic. Even the men's room was that way. It was clean and authentic. We didn't want to leave this wonderful place. I heartily recommend it! PS.
