Tartu County boasts beautiful countryside. To the east, explore the relatively undeveloped sandy coastline of Lake Peipus, one of Europe’s largest lakes, and learn about the Old Believers and visit their quaint lakeside villages.
Vooremaa, located just north of Tartu, is a land of lakes. The area boasts hiking trails and sandy beaches, and offers plenty of activities for nature lovers or those simply wishing to escape the city. It's also home to some of the most popular attractions in Tartu County, including the Ice Age Centre, Elistvere Animal Park and Vudila Playland.
Finally, there's Elva city, a beautiful lakeside town that boasts a number of great eateries. In the same region you can visit the Tartu Observatory and Akva:rium Lake Museum.
