Festival: Sandsation
Sandsation (c) 2008 Dirk HönerbachBerlin’s largest open air gallery will open beside the O2 World on 6 June. The Sandsation international sand sculpture festival attracts about 120,000 people annually with sand sculptures that are many metres high. Internationally renowned sand artists work on a huge central sculpture and also compete individually for the sandsculpting World Championship, of which the winner is announced on 10 June. This years theme is 'head in the sand'. Visitors can admire the sculptures, relax on deckchairs with some good food and drinks, while the children muck abut with sand too. At weekends adults can also have a go at professional sandsculpting. Find regularly updated information about all events at www.sandsation.de.
Sandsation 2010, 6 June to 29 August 2010, at O2 World, Mühlenstraße 12. Open 10:00-20:00, Fri-Sat 10:00-23:00.
