Not the setting one would expect of 'beer heaven,' but not many return from that bright white light at the end of the tunnel to tell. The patterns cast on the chartreuse wall by 1970s lamps are groovy, but the crowd certainly doesn't groom itself for the painfully overlit room. Mellowed-with-age punks number among the mixed, laid-back crowd. You can at least read a book whilst drinking or having a piece of cake.

  My g/f and I stopped in here on our most recent trip to Berlin, having heard about lovely cakes and a nice atmosphere. Unfortunately, the service was by far the worst I have ever encountered. The waiting staff were unbelievably rude. The cake was pretty inedible too.
