Frankfurt In Your Pocket

As the theatre season winds down for summer and business is reduced to a whimper, and a very quiet one at that this year, Frankfurt suddenly becomes the friendly, relaxed and slow-paced city that we wish it would be all year long.

It’s important to make the most of the warmer months, and there are plenty of events, exhibitions, concerts and great places to eat and drink in the sunshine. The renowned Städel museum has exhibitions on two great geniuses this summer, Michelangelo and Edvard Munch, and starts a new exhibition with Baroque art by the Utrecht Caravaggists.

If that’s all too old for you, sample the great modern art retrospective at the Schirn Kunsthalle. Just remember to catch the sunrays as they come in – and maybe the best thing to do is to grab your blanket and picnic hamper, and go sunbathe near the cafés along the grassy banks of the Main river.

Whatever your bank manager says, have a good time in Frankfurt, and let us know of any comments or updates at frankfurt@inyourpocket.com. Enjoy Frankfurt.

  • Holzhausen Park
This park is a gem. In the 1950s, as a child, I lived half a block away. In summer swans glided round the pond, in winter there was ice skating. A paradise for children and lovely for families.[...]
  • King Kamehameha
It's a bit too 80s style for my liking... and apparently they don't let anyone in called Lawrence. Otherwise it's OK I guess.[...]
  • Steinernes Haus
I thought this was the oddest German restaurant. All of the staff were Asian! The decor was faded and sad, the lighting was awful, everything sounded loud, but no music was on and the food was not that great. It is a beautiful building and it would [...]
  • Golden Gate
Excellent club. After each dancer exits the stage they open the floor for the guests to dance until the next performer. All the dancers were very personable and would come out and dance with the crowd. Drinks are a little spendy but worth the pay[...]
  • Living XXL
i went there and yup I got some hot euro pussy that night. I most def recommend it :-)[...]
  • Dippemarkt
This is a great place and just a short walk from the TI near the Römer. The family-owned store has a great selection of stoneware and pottery difficult to find elsewhere. Best of all they will ship it home for you! Nice people.[...]
  • Irish Pub Bornheim
The food is crap and over-priced. Poor choice of wine and only one Sky Channel, so the rugby fan plays second fiddle to the football crowd.[...]
  • Haus Wertheym
Food is nice but one thing we didn't like is that they didn't return any change when we paid the bill - they kept about 15 euros![...]

  • Liliput
I have been to Liliput many times and it is indeed a garden oasis with lots of interesting people, a few celebs once in a while and totally cool ambiance and great music. During the day it is an intimate place and during the evening and night it'[...]
  • The Ivory Club
    This restaurant rocked my socks.[...]
  • Unity
I think the reference is to the cultural undertones of the club, not the nationality of the owners. Ethiopia, as it would happen, is a part of the "Arab World".[...]
  • Stereo Bar
This club seems to be hot, but the only bad thing is that is closed on Mondays, and that's the day I'll be arriving with few friends.[...]
