Spielbank Casino [Casino Bad Homburg]

Exclusive would be an understatement. This jaw-droppingly elegant little casino in the Kurpark is decked out in white, red, and gold, with crystal chandeliers and mirrors everywhere, and draped in lavish red velvet. It looks like an old-fashioned gambling parlour, and maintains a strict dress code to match. The players can choose from roulette, baccara, black jack, poker, or try the slots. There is also a gourmet restaurant, with menus changing seasonally. The casino opened in 1841 and quickly became a leading casino in Europe, thanks to its location in the popular spa town. Once the conservative Prussian empire took hold in 1872, the casino was closed. Its founders, the Blanc brothers, went to Monaco and founded their famous casino there. In 1949, the Bad Homburg casino reopened, and has been referred to as The Mother of Monte Carlo ever since. Travelling to the casino is quite simple, as there is a free shuttle bus that runs between Frankfurt and Bad Homburg daily.

Admission €2.50. Regular buses from 14:00-01:00 from Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof bus stop N°9, and back from 16:30-04:00, the €6 ticket price goes towards admission.
