Höchst is best known internationally for its chemical company Höchst AG, which houses modern day pharmaceutical companies. Höchst AG has a corporate museum in the building and courtyard of the castle in the Schlossplatz. A collection of the famous Höchst porcelain is on display here as well as the history of the original town of Höchst and a special exhibition that is devoted to the Jewish history of Höchst, however most things must be read to be appreciated, and the text is entirely in German. In spite of this, the Castle Court is a delightful area with beautiful gardens and statues out back, a lovely well nestled in its center, and small beam and mortar houses placed throughout that have painstakingly maintained gardens perched along cobblestone roads. Additionally, there are a couple of great restaurants in the middle of the courtyard, such as the Zum Bären or the Alte Zollwache, to grab a bite of traditional German food.
