Hannover

Arriving by car intro

share
Germany has a brilliant network of Autobahnen (motorways, prefixed ‘A’) and Bundesstrassen (major roads, prefixed by ‘B’), which will seamlessly guide you to the centre of Hannover. Traffic drives on the right with speed limits of 130kph or 100kph outside built-up areas. Fifty kph is the limit in built-up areas. There are no speed limits on Autobahnen.
The minimum age for driving in Germany is 18. International drivers require a valid license and proof of insurance. A country identification sticker must be displayed on the vehicle. Seatbelts must be worn at all times and children under 12 years can only travel in the front seat with a child restraint.
German laws are strict by many accounts when it comes to driving after you have had a few pints, glasses or snifters full of your favourite alcoholic beverage. The legal maximum alcohol to blood ratio for driving is 0.05%.
