Arriving by train intro
The recently modernised Hauptbahnhof lies in the centre of the city. It serves as a major connection hub for Deutsche Bahn routes including Berlin-Amsterdam and a non-stop service to Paris. During international trade fairs, some trains from major cities also stop at the Hannover Messe/Laatzen station and at the Messegelände (fair grounds), in the southwest of the city. The tourist information centre is located directly outside the main entrance and to the left.
Look for the Sparda Bank building next to the tourist information centre for ATMs and exchange. To the right of the main Hauptbahnhof entrance is the Post Bank which usually offers lower fees then most banks on withdrawals from foreign accounts and currency exchange. Car hire services, travel agents, a grocery store and a trade fair information desk can also be found inside the Hauptbahnhof.
