The American military presence is a well-known fact of life in Kaiserlautern, as the countless military cargo planes flying over the city make all too clear. Accordingly, there are many restaurants and shops which appeal to this none-too-small segment of Kaiserlautern’s inhabitants. Asa result, English is spoken in many places, and some restaurants, shops and bars accept dollars.
