It's worth venturing some 30km north of Munich to experience this enchanted little Biergarten wedged in the woods between a brewery and a 340-year-old pilgrim's church. The chapel commemorates miracle healer Amalie Hohenester, but most patrons seem more interested in the local liquid cure. Break away from your brew at some point and walk 300m up to a shady bench with a marvellous view of the Alps.
