Munich City Museum (Münchner Stadtmuseum)

  St.-Jakobs-Pl. 1      +49 89 23 32 23 70     more than a year ago
Founded in 1888, the museum hosts a variety of changing exhibitions, but permanent exhibits include the hall of Morris Dancers with impressive objects taken from the Altes Rathaus and the excellent views of Munich which includes hundreds of antique maps, paintings, scale models and lithographs illustrating the evolution of the city. Fashion, furniture, photography, and musical instruments add to the collection. Finally the puppet and carnival art halls feature some eclectic materials including Beatles puppets, a 'smash Hitler' shooting game and certain displays which suddenly spring to life taking a few years off of your life. We won't tell you which ones, though.
