This is definitely the most convenient means to getting around Athens. It operates between 05:00-24:00 from impeccable stations (some, such as Acropolis and Syntagma, also doubling as site museums) playing soothing classical music and featuring glittering white marble and interesting works of art. The metro has good links to the pre-existing over ground rail network, connecting the harbour of Piraeus with the northern suburb of Kifisia, the stations of which have been recently upgraded.
