This is the historic 19th century Athens gasworks factory, which the city’s Municipality has made an excellent job of converting into a modern cultural complex. Its industrial features have been maintained (its imposing furnace is beautifully lit at night) and harmoniously blend in with the exhibition spaces, which periodically host visual arts and multimedia exhibitions, as well as dance performances and concerts. It is also home to the dedicated Maria Callas Museum (open Mon-Fri 10:00-15:00, free admission), which displays memorabilia and personal items that belonged to the world-renowned Opera Diva.
