Museum of Traditional Musical Instruments

Housed in a simple neoclassical three-storey building in a serene quarter of Plaka, this Museum houses one of the foremost collections of traditional musical instruments in Europe. Exhibits are accompanied by sound recordings, allowing you to experience the sound of each instrument, as well as its musical combination with other instruments. Information is provided on how the instruments are created. There is a large library for dedicated scholars in the adjacent Research Centre for Ethnomusicology. Musical recitals are sometimes held in the garden. A giftshop selling traditional music CDs and musical instruments is also available.
