Currently the city's sixth town hall, Hamburg's newest seat of government took eleven years to build and was completed in 1897. With a neo-Renaissance exterior and an interior of mixed styles, including a number of fountains built to celebrate the health Hamburg's citizens. Much of the interior is open to the public, but there's generally usually something closed off due to an official function. To get the most out a visit, a guided tour is highly recommended.
