Boats

Sail the blue (actually, off-green) Danube from Vienna to Budapest in five hours. Boat leaves at 08:00 and costs 830 ATS. From July 27 to Sept. 2, there is an additional boat at 13:00. Information is available from Mahart Tours, V. Belgrad rkp. tel (+36-1) 484 4013, Open 08:00 - 18:00.

You can travel on ferries within Budapest that are operated by BKV, the local-transport company, between Boraros ter and Romai part. From May 1 until Sept 3 ferries run Thu - Sun, four times a day. From Boraros ter the boats leave at 09:00, 11:40, 12:40, 15:20 and 16:20 (to Batthyany ter). This trip is 1 hour. From Romai part the boats leave at 10:00, 11:00, 13:40, 14:40, and 17:20 (the last boat goes only as far as Jaszai Mari ter). This trip is 40 minutes. Mahart (Hungarian Shipping Company) boats to Szentendre and Visegrad the Danube Bend leave from the Vigado ter terminal at 09:00 and boats to Visegrad - Esztergom leave at 07:30 until Oct. 20, tel. (+36-1) 318 1223.

International hydrofoil services to Bratislava (14 850 HUF, takes 5 1/2 hrs) and Vienna (16 400 HUF, takes 6 1/2 hrs) leave from V. Belgrad rakpart terminal at 08:00 (until Nov. 2), tel. (+36-1) 318 1743, 484 4010.
