Train information and schedules

Budapest has three major train stations, and each has connections to the metro system as well as to other public transport. For international information call tel. (+36-1) 461 5500; for domestic information call tel. (+36-1) 461 5400 (English spoken).

Keleti Train Station, VIII. Baross ter.

Change money
at the post office or IBUSZ. Wasteels also offers reasonable exchange rates. Open 08:00 - 19:00, Sat 08:00 - 13:00. Closed Sun. Avoid the Interchange currency exchange: their posted rates are misleading.
Left luggage, located beside track N°6, is open around the clock. Cost per day: 140 HUF (larger pieces 280 HUF). There are snack shops and a market within the station.
Getting to town. To get to the metro station (red line), go down the stairs and through the underpass to the outdoor plaza. The metro entrance is on the far side of the plaza. Bus N°7, which runs every few minutes, will also take you to centrally located Ferenciek tere - to find the bus stop, follow the signs in the underpass.
Public phones are located among the main stairs leading to the platforms.

Nyugati Train Station, XIII. Nyugati ter.

Beside track N°13 is an entrance below a sign reading 'Menetjegy Penztarak'. Walk through this entrance to reach the ticket hall. As you enter the ticket hall, the train information booth (open 06:30 - 19:30) is immediately to your left; the windows for domestic tickets are farther ahead to the left; and international tickets are straight ahead. To the right of the international ticket office is a corridor leading to the left luggage office, open 05:00 - 24:00. There are lockers in the same room.
Tourist information (open 07:00 - 20:00) is located beside the end of platform N°10.
Change money at Quick Change, near track N°13, open 08:00 - 22:00. Rates at IBUSZ and Wasteels were less favourable but still reasonable last time we checked. Snack shops are located all around the station, as well as a market (open 24hrs). A large McDonald's is just outside.
Getting to town. You're in it! To get to the heart of downtown, exit the station to the street outside, turn right and go down the stairs of the underpass. Here you can take the blue metro line to Deak ter or Ferenciek tere.

Deli Train Station, XII. Magyar jakobinusok tere.

The train information booth (open 06:00 - 20:00) is on your left as you walk from the trains into the main hall.
To change money, go downstairs. You will find a K&H Bank, a K&H 24-hour exchange machine, and a post office. Left luggage (open 03:30 - 23:30) is located next to track N°1. Cost per day: 150 HUF(larger pieces 300 HUF). Lockers in the main hall cost 200 HUF/24hrs.
Getting to town. The entrance to the metro station (red line) is down the stairs.
