Dun Laoghaire Harbour

Seven miles south of Dublin city is the Victorian town of Dun Laoghaire whose man-made Harbour is the largest in Western Europe and one of the 19th Century's great engineering feats. Daily Stena HSS sailings connect the town with Holyhead in Wales, and buses, taxis and the DART (20mins to Dublin City) provide transport to and from the port. There is a Dublin Tourism Information Office in the ferry terminal which is located on the seafront between the east and west piers, the former of which has two Crimean War cannons. The town has a strong yachting tradition, is home to Ireland's largest marina (500 berths) and is the birthplace of Bob Geldof.
