Comedy Venues

Ireland has a strong reputation for comedy and Dublin is its stand-up mecca. Many well-known personalities on Irish and British TV have cut their teeth in Dublin’s comedy venues, including Dara O’Briain, Dermot Morgan, Ardal O’Hanlon, Sean Hughes and Dylan Moran. Usually the standard is pretty high, with at least two comics per bill and plenty of bang for your buck. Don’t sit near the front if you’re shy...

The International Bar on Wicklow Street is probably the best known venue. It plays host to stand up comedy seven nights a week and the show usually starts at 20:00 - get there nice and early because it fills up fast. Around the corner, Bankers on Trinity Street hosts stand-up on Saturdays and Murphy’s Laughter Lounge just over O’Connell Bridge is Dublin’s only dedicated comedy venue.
