Beside Christ Church Cathedral, in the heart of the walled medieval city, sits Dublin's only remaining medieval parish church. Built between 1181-1212, under the first Norman Archbishop of Dublin, this historically significant church is dedicated to St Ouen, 7th century bishop of Rouen and patron saint of Normandy. Nowadays, part of St. Audoen's is still used as a Church of Ireland parish church, and inside you can see 17th century memorials to the eminent Sparke and Duff families and a 15th century effigial tomb to Lord Chancellor of Ireland Baron Portlester and his wife.
