Visitors are admitted when the House is not in session (Mon and Fri). Tours take 20-25 mins and are provided by the Oireachtas - the Irish Parliament, pronounced Ear-Ock-Tiss - ushers who have an historical and educational knowledge of the House. Those wishing to visit must be sponsored by a Member or their Embassy. Special events also take place such as Sept's Culture Night - an evening of culture and entertainment - photographic exhibitions, family days, and Open House Dublin where visitors can tour the corridors and visit the parliament chambers. There is usually an eight-week recess between July and Sept. For days and times contact the Events Desk at event.desk@oireachtas.ie.
